SE Asia Tour Packages - Descriptions

Our package tours make it easy for you to travel the length and breadth of Cambodia, Laos, or Vietnam in a matter of weeks. You can sign up for the whole tour and let us worry about the details, or you can customize the itineraries to fit your interests. (See the "Options & Connections" footnote on each page.)

• World Heritage - Indochina (14-16 days).
  Six unforgettable experiences in one tour: the highland capital of Luang Prabang, the Khmer temples of Angkor and Wat Phu, the Cham monuments of Central Vietnam, the restored trading port of Hoi An, and the 19th-Century capital of Vietnam, all of them designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
• Vietnam Complete (3 weeks)
  Give us 3 weeks and we'll give you the whole of Vietnam. In addition to seeing most of the World Heritage sites in Vietnam, you'll have more time to experience the sights and sounds of the country, including an island odyssey near Nha Trang and home stays in the northern highlands and the Mekong Delta.
• Laos Discovery (5-9 days).
  Too mountainous to be industrialized, too remote to be included on the usual travel itineraries, Laos might well be called "the undiscovered country." So much the better for us--now's the best time to make the breathtaking journey to Luang Prabang!
• Cambodia Essence (4-6 days).
  Visit the capital city of Phnom Penh, and journey up the Tonle Sap river to see the majestic temples of the powerful Khmer Empire at Angkor.
• Vietnam Essence (1-3 days).
  A shorter version of our "Vietnam Complete" tour, this will still get you to Hanoi, the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, the scenic islands of Ha Long Bay, the Imperial City at Hue, the port town of Hoi An, the Cham temples at My Son, the highland town of Dalat, and the Mekong Delta.

Mix & Match Tours

Our "Mix & Match" tours are more of an "a la carte" plan, allowing you to create your own dream vacation. Our list includes some frequently overlooked destinations, such as the ancient Oc Eo culture and the Khmer temples of the south, the spiritual retreat of Yen Tu mountain, and the border regions of Cao Bang and Chi Lang in the north.

• City of Hanoi morning and afternoon city tours (1-3 days).
  There's plenty to see and do while in Hanoi--a cyclo ride through the craft areas of the Old Quarter, water puppet theater, the colorful Museum of Ethnology, and the ancient Temple of Literature.
• Pagodas & History around Hanoi (4 days)
  This series of day trips will take you to the north, south, east, and west of Hanoi, where you'll stand on the ramparts of the ancient city of Co Loa, take a boat trip to the famous Perfume Pagoda, visit the mountain temple to the legendary Hung Kings, and visit the earliest Buddhist sites.
• Ha Long Bay & Yen Tu (2-3 days)
  This tour combines the scenic beauty of Ha Long Bay (a World Heritage site) and Yen Tu Mountain with sidetrips to historical sites and the port of Haiphong.
• Ancient Capitals (4 days)
  Often ignored in tour itineraries, the scenic rural landscape south of Hanoi holds many treasures, including the first capital at Hoa Lu, the famous Bronze Age drums of Dong Son, the remains of the Western Capital, and the temples and tombs of the kings of the Le Dynasty.
• Northern Highlands (9 days)
  Your trip through these scenic highland regions offers spectacular vistas, leisurely boat rides down mountain rivers, and visits to the villages and markets of the colorful hill tribes.
• Cao Bang & Lang Son (9 days)
  A Mikeland exclusive, this tour will take you to the "other" northern highlands of Cao Bang and Lang Son. You'll visit the Chi Lang Pass, where the armies of the Kublai Khan and the Ming emperor were defeated, and explore the hidden realm of the Mac kings.
• World Heritage - Central Coast (4 days)
  With this tour, you can visit three World Heritage sites that are within a 60-mile radius: the Hue royal city and tombs, the great Cham temples of My Son, and the restored trading port town of Hoi An.
• Central Highlands (5 days)
  Elephant rides, waterfalls, and the heritage of the hill tribes await you in the cool Central Highlands of Vietnam. Visit Dalat, Ban Me Thuot, Kontum, and Pleiku.
• Hue Monuments (3 days)
  Hue was the capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty (1800-1945). The Citadel, the royal palace and the tombs of the Nguyen emperors make this a living museum.
• Cham Discovery - Central Coast (9 days)
  Stay at resorts on the beautiful beaches of Vietnam's Central Coast while following the trail of the historic kingdom of Champa (4th-15th centuries AD). Along the way you'll see famous Cham temples at Qui Nhon, Nha Trang, and Phan Rang. This tour includes the World Heritage sites of My Son and Hoi An.
• The Mekong Delta & the South (5 days)
  The "rice basket of the south" is also one of the most culturally diverse areas in Vietnam. Our tour takes you up the river from the Khmer temples of Soc Trang to Chau Doc, on the border with Cambodia.
• Oc-Eo Culture (1-2 days)
  Take a quick sidetrip to the little-known southwestern coast of Vietnam, where the kingdom of Funan traded for Roman goods as early as the 1st Century AD.
• Cu Chi & Tay Ninh (1 day)
  This popular day trip to the northwest of Saigon will take you to the largest cathedral of the Cao Dai sect, the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, and the pagoda of Nui Ba Den (Mountain of the Black Lady).
• Ho Chi Minh City (2-3 days)
  Your choice of morning or afternoon tours to museums, pagodas, and traditional markets, capped off with boat rides and jazz in the evening.
